PHJ TRADING was established in 1995, when Peter J. Horn purchased and renamed the South African subsidiary of PSM Fasteners, which was already trading from its Strijdom Park, Johannesburg premises for close to 20 years. At that stage PJH TRADING was actively selling sheet metal fasteners, inserts for plastics and spring steel fasteners to the southern African automotive and thin sheet metal industries.

Peter Horn had a vision to expand the existing products range and build up a company which can provide, not only a variety of specialized fasteners, but also to be able to offer the clients new and improved technology, which he then imported from Europe.

Distribution agreement were formed with overseas supplier and from here the company just grew, being able to offer Stud-welding, 2D & 3D Clamping and Welding systems, Clinching (Rivetless joining of materials), Orbital riveting, Pneumo-Hydraulic Power Cylinders and a vast variety of Hand tools.

Another Milestone in the company’s History is the formation of its sister company MONDO AUTOMOTIVE in 2001. Under this company a distribution agency was formed with KENT, which is part of the Barnes Group Incorporated which has annual turnover of US$ 6.5mio, employs more than 5,700 employees in more than 60 locations on 4 continents worldwide.

In 2012 Barnes Group Incorporated, including its KENT division was purchased by the world-renowned Berner Group, which has an annual turnover of over € 1 billion. This acquisition has opened the door, for Mondo Automotive, to extent its chemical range and add the Berner products to its existing product portfolio.

MONDO AUTOMOTIVE supplies high performance repair and maintenance products to customers in Automotive, Transport, Industrial and Marine markets.
